Greece Shows Poor Results in Immigration/Investment, but High Marks for Tourism
30 August 2007
According to the latest Anholt Nation Brands Index report, from government advisor Simon Anholt and powered by GMI, Greece, the guest nation of the report, has contrasting marks as a place people want to visit versus a place people want to live. Based on the opinions of 25,000 people from around the world, Greece ranked 17th out of 35 in total brand recognition, and was not perceived as a “country many people would be attracted to live or study”, especially compared to its European neighbors. Its government also has less credibility than most of its fellow EU members.
At the same time, Greece performed very strongly as a tourist brand and ranked highest among European countries for heritage, both built and cultural. Understandably, its historical culture is highly respected, but it also ranked 8th among contemporary culture as well.
