Nine GMI staffers volunteer for Habitat for Humanity
7 August 2008This July, nine GMI staffers volunteered 67.5 combined hours of labor to help build a new house for Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization that builds simple and affordable housing for people in need. GMI staffers, along with community volunteers, Habitat for Humanity staff members, and the new homeowners, spent the day installing flooring and building walls throughout the home.
“We had a great mix of people from IT, finance, client services, panel and product management,” said Jennifer Tomacelli, a GMI billing analyst and volunteer. “It was a blast to be able to work with people who I never even knew before the event.”
Building active involvement in the community is an important and rewarding aspect of working for GMI. This partnership with Habitat for Humanity, an organization that builds a stronger community by helping people build better lives for themselves, reinforces GMIs continued dedication to giving back to the community.
